George, Me & Riley – All Making The Same Silly Face! (:
I’m Lizzy French; Graduate from Living Arts College (Salutatorian .03 points away from Valedictorian; December, 2014) with a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design. Now that I have graduated from school, I’m the full time warehouse manager at A Hoke Ltd, [Interior Design Trade Showroom] and spend a little bit of my time at home doing DIY projects I’ve found on pinterest or with my dog [Riley] & boyfriend of 6 years [George]. But instead of telling you all about me, I’m going to tell you about my design style & how I mix it into my work. My personal style is Contemporary. [It uses round lines with clean finishes, it’s a much softer look instead of the sharp stark lines used in Modern Design] I use this along with other styles to accomplish a completely custom look for a client and their family, so that I can give them a look that is completely their own & never seen before. I will work with you to achieve a look that you are happy with & make you & your family want to never leave your new space that we created together.
On the other side, commercial, I like to play around with scale, proportion, and functionality. I take ordinary items and turn them into a beautiful display. Its all about keeping the creativity alive, because who wants to look at boring all day long just because you work there? I believe it should be pushed further than dull cubicles, or an average restaurant, or a plain cookie cutter store. People need to be drawn in and excited to go there! If the employees are excited, the clients will be excited to keep coming back. It’s all about the customer’s experience in commercial, giving them something to remember and a reason to come back. For example, I did a project for a retail show room where the concept was raining color. So I created a display made of 6 colorful nightstands that created a hexagonal shape. It was then hung from the ceiling with several of the drawers open, allowing for colorful pillows to come pouring out of them in a falling effect strung by mono filament wire.
